It Is True That The Use Of An IUD Can Cause Infertility?

I happen to sometimes forget to take my contraceptive pill. As I do not like the idea of injections, I’ve been thinking that a an intrauterine device (IUD) could be the solution for me. However, a friend of mine told me she was councelled against it’s use as a contraceptive device due to the risk of infection that can cause sterility. Is this risk real?

Should our children know our past?

A question that comes back frequently during conversations between parents is to what degree can we and should we be open about our past sexual experiences and choices with our children when they inquire? Does talking about our “experiences” when we were younger encourage our children to follow in our footsteps or worse use it as an excuse as to their own choices? Or, on the contrary, does sharing these experiences openly with the color and knowledge we now posess help cement a strong, open and honest parent/adolescent relationship?

Pregnancy in space: Mission Impossible?

Researchers at the Ames Research Centre in California believe it would be impossible to conceive and bring to maturity a pregnancy in space. The issue is with the strong cosmic radiation emitted by proton particles that lead to sterilization of the conception. Similarly, these effects could extend to men by affecting the quality of their sperm. Technology today simply does not allow us to conceive a shield strong enough to protect against these radiations!
